Desert Coffee: Reflective Branding and Packaging by Sergio Laskin

We’ve featured Sergio Laskin’s packaging work a few times before, and his latest project for Desert Coffee takes a very different approach to the familiar visual language of specialty coffee. Created for the California-based brand, the identity swaps the usual earthy tones, farms and mountain imagery for reflective silver surfaces, sharp black graphics and flashes of vivid yellow.

Rather than depicting the desert literally, Sergio translates its atmosphere through material. Metallic coffee bags, boxes, cans and other packaging catch the surrounding light, shifting in appearance as they move through different environments. Against that silver backdrop, a bold feline logo introduces plenty of character, while a bright yellow tag acts as a secondary visual signature across the range. The same accent color appears on can tabs, container caps, small typographic details and the interior of a square metal cup.

The wider system keeps everything restrained. Compact black typography and minimal supporting graphics leave room for the materials and recurring symbols to carry the identity, keeping it recognizable across retail packaging, cold brew cans, accessories and merchandise.
