Elegant Restraint: Orikum Marina Book Design by Comence Studio

Comence Studio’s book for Orikum Marina is a beautiful lesson in restraint, translating the character of the Albanian waterfront development into a tactile editorial object defined by warm tones, subtle typography and carefully considered details.

The visual language takes its cues from the marina’s architecture, which was conceived around the structure of a coral ecosystem. Across the buildings, connected forms and repeating balcony grids evoke the irregular density of a reef. Comence carries that idea onto the book’s cover through a series of minimal, cone-like graphics formed from fine curved lines.

Material choices, such as the sand-colored paper used on the cover, reference the limestone used across the marina’s facades, while the monochromatic palette allows texture, light and shadow to do much of the visual work. Inside, generous white space, delicate type and precisely arranged architectural imagery continue the same elegant approach. Even the presentation photography follows suit, using soft natural light and neutral surfaces to emphasize the book’s tactile qualities.
