Intricate Paper Art Creations by Makerie Studio

Award-winning creative duo Makerie Studio, formed by Julie Wilkinson and Joyanne Horscroft, transforms paper into extraordinary three-dimensional artworks filled with intricate details, vibrant colors and imaginative compositions. Working across Oslo, London, New York and Milan, the artists specialize in bespoke sculptures and installations that showcase the possibilities of this humble material.

Beyond their commercial campaigns and editorial work, the studio’s “special projects” offer even more room for creative experimentation. In Coming Home, they build surreal architectural landscapes, with staircases, arches and narrow doorways beneath colorful paper suns and clouds. Dramatic lighting and soft gradients give these miniature constructions a monumental quality, with intersecting stairs and unexpected perspectives reminiscent of M.C. Escher’s impossible architecture.

Other creations draw inspiration from botanical illustrations and natural history collections, featuring elaborate floral arrangements and meticulously crafted insects. Delicate wing patterns, individually shaped petals and metallic details that catch the light reveal an astonishing level of precision and craftsmanship.
