LP18 House: A Bangkok Residence That Folds Inward on Itself
Published Apr 30, 2026
Bangkok-based Archive Studio designed this sharp private residence as an act of deliberate inversion, turning its back on the city to face a lush, enclosed world of its own making.
The house wraps around a sunken garden and reflecting pool, with floor-to-ceiling glazing dissolving the boundary between living spaces and the courtyard’s weeping willows. A diagonal fin screen, stark white and angled like a wedge against the sky, shields the upper volume from the street while channelling light deep into the plan. Inside, a sculptural spiral stair rises through a glazed void, tying the levels together with a fluid counterpoint to the building’s linear geometry.
The underlying idea is one of controlled contrast: a sealed, almost opaque exterior that gives way to a surprisingly open interior ecology. Privacy and openness aren’t traded off, they’re achieved simultaneously by redefining where the outside actually begins.
