Moon2 Spa: A Concrete Retreat by CHADO Architects
Published Jul 8, 2026
CHADO Architects brings a monolithic sense of calm to the Moon2 Spa Complex, a minimalist wellness retreat integrated into the Moon2 Hotel at the Arkhyz Ski Resort.
Built almost entirely from exposed concrete, the interior feels less like a conventional spa and more like a space carved directly into the mountain. Furniture is kept to a minimum, allowing proportion, texture and light to shape the atmosphere. Dark lounge seating, raw stone accents and restrained metal details sit quietly against the concrete surfaces, while expansive glazing frames the surrounding snow-covered landscape.
At the centre of the complex, a concrete pool extends across the boundary between indoors and outdoors, creating the impression of a basin cut into rock. During the day, soft natural light and mountain views bring a meditative quality to the space. After dark, deep red, amber and blue lighting transforms the same rooms into something more dramatic and otherworldly.
