Nighttime Stories: Neon Portraits by Oliver Takac

Slovak photographer, colorist and cinematographer Oliver Takáč creates atmospheric images that feel like stills pulled from movies we’ve never seen. With a cinematic eye and a confident use of light and color, he develops his imaginary narratives through dramatic lighting, saturated hues and carefully staged compositions.

Much of his work seems to unfold after dark, where neon signs, car interiors, streetlights and narrow beams of illumination transform everyday settings into something more mysterious. Deep blues and greens are punctuated by intense reds, oranges and yellows, while faces frequently emerge from heavy shadow or appear partially obscured by reflections, silhouettes and double exposures.
