Following our recent hands-on with TTT’s Redundant, we’re taking a closer look at another watch from Anicorn’s experimental design platform, this time heading back to the very beginning of The Trio of Time series.

Hidden Time was originally conceived by Seoul-based industrial designer Jiwoong Jung and became the first TTT release, translating his 2016 concept into a physical timepiece.

The idea is simple to describe and strangely satisfying to watch in practice. A gradient disc sits behind the dial, shifting from deep olive green to near white. White hour numerals are printed on the glass above it, and as the disc slowly rotates once every twelve hours, each number is revealed as the dark end of the gradient passes beneath it, then slowly swallowed again as the lighter half sweeps back around. At any given moment, half the dial’s numbers are legible against the dark green and half have slowly vanished into the white.

Jung has talked about the design growing out of research into camouflage in nature, particularly the way a chameleon can visually disappear into its surroundings. Here, that thinking is applied to time itself. It’s a clever optical trick, but the effect is surprisingly subtle in person. At a quick glance, the sharp edge of the rotating gradient marks the current hour, while the surrounding numerals drift in and out of view. As the gradient slowly moves around the dial, something as ordinary as checking the time becomes a more deliberate little interaction.

Design and Build

The Olive version we tested is particularly beautiful. Its deep green gradient transitions through softer shades before disappearing into white, paired with a warm brown leather strap that gives the contemporary design a slightly more classic feel. The single minute hand is finished in a warm gold that pairs nicely with the strap, while the rotating gradient takes care of indicating the hour.

Like the TTT Redundant, Hidden Time feels very considered physically as well as conceptually. The 39mm 316L stainless-steel case is only 8.7mm thick, so it sits comfortably and relatively discreetly on the wrist despite the unusual face. The current model uses a Japanese Miyota 2025 quartz movement beneath mineral glass, with 5ATM water resistance.

Turn it over and the caseback is engraved with the essentials: “the trio of time,” the number 01 marking Hidden Time’s place as the series opener, and Seoul as the originating city, alongside Jung’s name and the movement details.

Presentation is another nice part of the experience. Hidden Time comes inside a unique transparent case, where the watch seems to float in place, suspended between flexible transparent layers built into the top and bottom halves of the box. It turns the packaging into a display case of sorts, presenting the watch like a small design object rather than something you’d simply store away.

Hidden Time is available in six colorways across the Trio of Time collection, from deeper Midnight and Coffee tones through to a near-monochrome Snow, so there’s room to pick a gradient that suits your own wardrobe rather than committing to green specifically. The tan leather strap that comes with the Olive keeps things fairly neutral, and since it uses the same quick-release system as Redundant, it’s easy enough to swap in a darker strap for something more formal.

Our Take

\n\n\n\n

Hidden Time is perhaps less immediately playful than Redundant, but I think its concept is just as elegant. It takes one of the most familiar pieces of visual information we interact with every day and reinterprets it, not for the sake of confusion, but to shift your attention toward the hour you’re actually living through. And after wearing it for a while, that little trick never really gets old.

It’s the kind of watch that’s easier to appreciate on the wrist than in a product photo, since so much of its appeal is in watching the gradient do its slow work over the course of a day rather than any single static moment.
