Rams System Icons: A Digital Tribute to Dieter Rams
Published Jul 2, 2026
Chinese digital artists Lu Yan, aka elliot9, and Zhiyi Zhang pay tribute to Dieter Rams with Rams System Icons, a beautifully crafted series of hyper-realistic 3D icons inspired by the legendary designer’s product language.
The project reimagines everyday digital icons as physical objects that could have slipped straight out of a Braun catalogue: clocks, radios, cameras, speakers, fans, lamps, calculators, watches and even contemporary devices like VR headsets and MP3 players. Each piece carries the unmistakable restraint of Rams’ design philosophy, with soft grey surfaces, rounded corners, precise grids, minimal typography and small orange or blue accents adding just enough personality.
The collection is a playful but deeply respectful homage, imagining how digital tools might look if they had been shaped by the same clarity, usefulness and quiet confidence that defined so many Braun classics.
