Shape-Shifting Figures: Illustrations by Gloria Pizzilli
Published Aug 21, 2026
Florence-based illustrator Gloria Pizzilli creates striking images that combine graceful linework, expressive figures and powerful color palettes. Her compositions often twist and overlap bodies, clothing, animals and decorative details, producing images that feel fluid, theatrical and surreal all at once.
Gloria’s use of color is particularly impressive, moving naturally from muted creams and cool blues to vivid reds, oranges, greens and golds.
Alongside her illustration practice, she teaches anatomy for artists, gesture drawing and illustration at The Sign Comics Art Academy in Florence. Her client list includes The New Yorker, The New York Times, Scientific American, Wired Italia, GQ USA and The Boston Globe, among many others. She has also received several awards for her work and exhibited internationally.
