Shaped by Light: Public Eye’s Identity for Exposure Photography Festival
Published May 27, 2026
Calgary-based studio Public Eye has created a new identity for Exposure Photography Festival, Alberta’s month-long celebration of contemporary photography.
The identity builds directly from the language of photography, borrowing the logic of overexposed and underexposed film to drive every visual decision. Shifting light gradients, abstract light leaks and photographic bring unpredictability into the system, so no two applications feel identical. That idea carries through the logo, where the wordmark moves between heavy and delicate forms, giving the identity a sense of motion without losing clarity.
The brand scales with intelligence across a demanding range of touchpoints, from street-level posters and folded exhibition guides to billboard campaigns, lanyards and gallery wall graphics. It’s a smart system that turns the mechanics of exposure into a visual identity that feels direct, tactile and full of light.
