Strange Journeys: Illustrated Narratives by Jason Hateart

LA-based art director, illustrator and comic artist Jason Hateart creates beautifully imagined scenes that feel like fragments from strange, unfinished stories. Skeleton adventurers wander through alien landscapes, mysterious doors appear deep in snowy forests, and ordinary suburban settings are interrupted by giant creatures, anthropomorphic animals and other surreal surprises.

Jason’s illustrations combine sharp linework with vibrant, often unexpected color palettes, shifting effortlessly between atmospheric fantasy and playful absurdity. Recurring motifs such as skeletons, swords, flowers and imposing natural landscapes give many of his personal pieces a loose visual continuity, with small details and hidden jokes rewarding a closer look.
