Striking Architectural Photography by Seth Powers

Shanghai-based photographer Seth Powers specializes in architecture and interiors, capturing contemporary buildings with a keen eye for composition, geometry and light. In this feature, we’re taking a look at the stunning skyscrapers and campuses he has documented across China.

Since arriving in Shanghai in 2012, Seth has photographed projects for dozens of international firms, including MVRDV, UNStudio, SCDA Architects and Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, as well as local boutique practices such as AIM Architecture and Kokaistudios.

Throughout his portfolio, monumental towers rise above dense urban landscapes, futuristic buildings twist toward the sky, and beautifully designed public spaces offer moments of calm amid the city. Seth also pays close attention to how architecture interacts with everyday life, occasionally incorporating small human figures to provide a sense of scale. His thoughtful approach transforms architectural documentation into compelling visual studies of form, texture and space.
