Sweet Rebellion: Sour Puss Packaging by Studio Unbound
Published Aug 10, 2026
Studio Unbound has turned the familiar candy tin into something a bit more bizarre with Sour Puss, a bold packaging concept created for a watermelon-flavored sour candy aimed at adults who still want to misbehave a little.
Most confectionery packaging sells the eating experience, showcasing bright fruit, open bags and the promise of a sweet treat. Sour Puss sells the aftershock instead. A three-eyed, drooling cat illustrated by Gianluca Gambino does the work a flavor description never could: it shows what the sourness actually feels like, capturing the character mid-meltdown against a hypnotic green spiral. Gian Wong’s custom lettering adds another layer of personality, with jagged forms designed to look like a startled cat with its fur standing on end.
The surreal theme continues inside the tin, where the watermelon candies take the shape of tiny cat eyes with pointed ears. Hot pink and acidic green give the entire package the energy of a psychedelic punk poster, while 3D embossing adds a more tactile quality. For more of Studio Unbound’s work, visit their portfolio.
