Textured Moments: Illustrations by Florence Sabatier
Published Mar 16, 2026
French-Canadian freelance illustrator Florence Sabatier uses grainy textures, muted palettes and carefully balanced compositions to create atmospheric illustrations that evoke wonder and curiosity.
Her images often depict familiar scenes like a train ride with a dog, a girl reading in a quiet forest or a figure looking out at snow through a window. But she also explores the surreal and fantastic: a giant sleeping figure using a rural landscape as a blanket, or a pencil catching fire as someone scribbles on a page. Across all of them, texture plays a central role, with dense speckled surfaces giving flat shapes warmth and depth.
