Villa Lago: A Sculptural Residence by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos
Published Jun 24, 2026
Spanish studio Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, whose work we have featured several times on the grid, is back with Villa Lago, a private residence set within the leafy surroundings of La Moraleja, on the northern edge of Madrid.
Set beside a golf course and oriented toward a nearby lake, the home moves away from a compact footprint in favour of a series of elongated volumes that rise through the site. The crisp white forms curve and overlap across the garden, creating a layout that feels both highly geometric and surprisingly organic.
The residence is organised around a sequence of outdoor spaces, with five garden areas shaped by the architecture itself. Long glass openings, sheltered terraces and open courtyards keep the landscape constantly in view, while the upper level stretches across the site like a bridge, creating a wide shaded area beneath it. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and minimal, with pale timber, soft lighting and expansive glazing beautifully balancing the purity of the exterior forms.
