JSAUX has recently launched a new version of its transparent backplate for the ROG Ally, which will bring a breath of fresh air, or better yet, a gust of cool air to your handheld.

This new backplate variant replaces the fancy RGB module with a heat sink, which is specifically designed to enhance heat dissipation and keep your Ally cool during intense gaming sessions.

The transparent casing is identical to the one found on the RGB model, and the installation process is quite similar as well. Here’s a video tutorial that walks you through the entire process:

All the tools and accessories you’ll need are included in the box.

In addition to the tools and accessories required for the installation, you’ll get a custom sticker in the package that is designed to cover up the silver foil on the battery. This is entirely optional, but definitely recommended, as it really improves the see-through design. Take a look at this side-by-side comparison to see for yourself:

If you like transparent tech as much as we do, you are absolutely going to love this mod. Here’s a few more images:

Transparent tech is back.

But does it actually work?

During our testing, we used Cinebench 2024 benchmarks alongside real-world gaming sessions to find out if the new backplate can offer more than just a visual upgrade and truly deliver on its promises.

And in fact, it does work. We have noticed a reduction in max temperatures ranging from 7 to 12 degrees Celsius across the board. This is great to see, as it not only extends the lifespan of the handheld but also boosts gaming performance.

Check out the comparison below to see how the original ROG Ally backplate stacks up against this new backplate with a heat sink:

Pricing

This new accessory is priced at $39.99 on JSAUX’s website, and if you already own the original RGB backplate, you will also the option to purchase the heat sink plate separately for only $6.99.
