Quirky Inflated 3D Characters by Josh McKenna

After more than a decade working as a freelance illustrator, London-based artist and designer Josh McKenna is embracing a playful new direction. Best known for his quirky vector illustrations and bold graphic style, Josh has recently transitioned into 3D, transforming his familiar characters into glossy, inflated figures full of personality, humor and charm.

Josh’s unique style has attracted an impressive client list, including Apple, Meta, Google, Levi’s and Coca-Cola. In 2017, he also created Instagram’s viral Pride sticker, which led to a series of LGBTQ+ focused commissions over the years.

His recent move from vector to render doesn’t abandon his visual language, it simply gives it volume, letting the same wit shine through material and light instead of silhouette. Last month, he joined Figma’s Config conference in San Francisco as a speaker and took the audience through his new approach of combining Figma Draw with a 3D workflow to create these playful scenes.
